"Have you ever caught a Walleye on a top-water lure?  Have you ever had to use a mechanical tally counter to keep track of how many fish you have caught?  Have you every had a Northern Pike try to steal the Walleye you were reeling in; three times in one day?  Have you ever released so many fish that your hands got raw and sore?  Have you ever gone through seventy dozen minnows and a pound of leaches in six days of fishing and been forced to pull up the boat floor to search for dried out minnows and leaches to use for bait?  Have you ever been out fishing with one of your friends and the two of you caught one-hundred fifty fish before noon?  All of this HAS happened to me; no baloney.  I swear on my mother’s life, it is true.

Since 2002, our group of four has been making our annual September trip to Kenora for a fly-in fishing trip with Walsten Outposts.  In 2002, at Roger Lake, four of us fished five days and caught 705 fish.  In 2003, we fished six days and caught 910 fish.  In 2004, we fished six days and caught 654 fish.  In 2005, we fished six days and caught a whopping 1,402 fish.  In 2006, we changed lakes, fished six days, and caught 862 fish.  In 2007, we fished six days and caught 684 fish.  That’s an average of about 149 fish per day and that can have a dramatic effect on how you think and feel about fishing for Walleyes, Northern Pike, and Smallmouth bass.

Now, combine this level of fishing success with good friends and family, lots of wildlife, cool clear nights, warm sunny days, waterfalls, the peaceful tranquility of a remote Canadian lake, the warmth of a campfire, and gorgeous sunsets and what you have is a vacation experience that will provide a lifetime of fond memories and fish stories of your own."     John H.     Portland, Oregon
